Research Works

Over the years, Senator Ihenyen has continually involved himself in a close and careful examination of English Literature. In the information age where the world is currently in, the Internet serves as a useful supplement to offline research sources. With a deepening interest in English Literature and creative writing (particularly the genre of poetry), the young writer has been no less productive over the years.
Apart from a first volume of over 100 poems, Colourless Rainbow:Poetry of My Childhood forthcoming from Coast2Coast, and the tentatively titled, ‘Ripples Across Lives’ (another volume of poetry in progress centred on HIV/AIDS), Senator Ihenyen has been putting together a well-researched literary textbook titled, Complete Poetry: For Students and Writers. Although not uninspired by the failed Apollo Literary/Educational Project back in 2004, this proposed textbook is an improved departure from the former both in content, scope and style with singular authorship.
This proposed book has been specially written by a practising poet for the student and writer of poetry. He has had a substantial cumulative experience both as a poetry student in the classroom and a practising poet who has been writing since his teenage years (a period within which he has produced two volumes of poetry) with a growing publishing profile especially on the Internet. One of the many strengths of this proposed book is classification, a tool which the author has used to place concepts, devices and techniques where they should belong if poetry must be taken seriously by the student as an academic study like other subjects. This informed consciousness, however, does not take anything away from the creative approach of the author who emphasised in the book that poetry as one of the genres of Literature is basically an artistic literary exercise driven by creativity, and not a science.
The Law student with a literary mind is very confident of the possibility of working with a good academic publisher to put the book in the hands of the targeted readers: students and writers. See the detailed outline of the book here. If you are a publisher or agent and you have a possible interest in publishing this book or getting a good publisher for the author, please feel free to contact the author through his e-mail: senatorihenyen@yahoo.co.uk. He will be happy to hear from you or receive any further enquiries about the proposed book!
